Jeanne Gooseberry
Flavor: A true dessert-quality gooseberry. The fruit is deep red, sweet, and juicy with a thin skin, making it much more palatable for fresh eating than older green varieties. It has a rich, complex berry flavor.
Growth Habit & Size: A compact, upright deciduous shrub. It typically matures at 3–4 feet tall and wide. This variety is known for being nearly thornless compared to other gooseberries, making harvest much easier.
USDA Zones: 3–8.
Pollination: Self-fertile. You only need one plant to produce a full crop, though planting near other varieties can increase fruit size.
Harvest Date: Mid-to-Late Summer (July).
Shipping Note: These plants are grown in 1-liter containers to ensure a robust root system, then carefully transitioned to bare root status for shipping to reduce stress and cost.
